Picture-house

From the Friends of the Picture House

Our cinema re-opens Weds evening

Thanks to the phenomenal efforts of staff and volunteers in the past few days the Picture House will be open again for business this evening (Wednesday 12 February)

The flood caused damage to rows A to F in the stalls, which have now been removed, but everything is as normal from Row G backwards. There is still seating for 394 people so please come and support the cinema!

Instead of screening the Banff Mountain Film Festival, which has been rescheduled for Thurs 14th May, The Personal History of David Copperfield will be shown at 7.45pm (film starts at 8.15pm). All other screenings are back to normal from Thursday 13th Feb. Sunday 5th April is the new date for Kinky Boots, which was cancelled on Sunday.

The Oscar-award winning Parasite will be showing for a full week starting Friday the 21st, so no need to see it anywhere else!

Please be aware that there is only one wheelchair space in the stalls instead of the usual four (and 4-6 spaces at the back on the flat areas) until the cinema is back to full capacity.
Also, please bring cash as card payments aren’t possible at present as there is no internet.

The foyer was completely undamaged so the kiosk will be available for snacks and drinks, and the heating is working so no need for blankets this time!

For up-to-the-minute news, including requests for help with the clear-up, please follow the Picture House and the Friends on our Facebook pages. But the best thing everyone can do to help now is to visit Hebden Bridge Picture House lots and lots and lots when it reopens.

Last time, the customer numbers at the cinema were significantly down for 9 whole months after the Dec 2015 flood. We can’t have that happen again. We want to continue to have a great indie cinema in our community and that means customers choosing us over the chains. So please tell everyone you know that we’re definitely open for business!

We hope to see you and all your friends and family at the Picture House soon.
