Hebden Bridge Group Practice - results, routine and follow up procedures

Update: Monday, 23 March 2020

Information provided with thanks to the Practice's Patient Participation Group

The aim of national guidance and the Practice is to reduce unnecessary footfall through the Practice, whilst also providing maximum possible clinical capacity to deal with the emerging Coronavirus situation.

There will be many patients who had routine or follow up procedures booked with the surgery, or will be due for them in the coming weeks (such as blood tests, immunisations, cytology etc).  NHS England have produced guidance as to which procedures are to continue and which may be postponed for everyone's safety, remembering that each trip into the surgery could increase the risk of patients contracting or spreading the virus.

We are recommending everyone who has had a routine procedure cancelled but feel they need it urgently, or is unsure how to proceed with one that is booked/due, to telephone the surgery.

Test results are still being reported via text message.  They will still be discussed with a Clinician where necessary and should your Clinician deem it appropriate, a repeat test or further procedure will be booked by them.

If you have had a text message or letter asking you to discuss your results with a Clinician please telephone the surgery to book a telephone consultation.

These are unprecedented times, but please rest assured that all results are still being processed in the same timely fashion.  We are still making provision for necessary procedures, and all our clinicians are working as hard as they can to provide the best possible service for all patients.

Hebden Bridge Group Practice - appointments by phone only

Wednesday, 18 March 2020

Information provided with thanks to the Practice's Patient Participation Group

Due to the emerging Coronavirus situation we have closed our reception areas in order to protect the population and prevent spread of the virus. For everyone's safety we have converted all appointments to telephone consultations.

All pre-booked appointments have been converted to telephone consultations. Please do not come to the surgery, you will receive a call at or around your allotted time.

With any queries or for an urgent appointment please call us.

The government has now moved to the 'delay' phase of tackling the virus. In order to prevent the spread of potential cases and to protect vulnerable groups it is important to follow updated guidance.

Do you have either:

  • a high temperature or fever
  • a new continuous cough

If you have either of these symptoms NHS guidance asks you and any household members to stay at home. Stay away from other people for at least the next 14 days, and until your symptoms have gone

To protect others, it is very important not to go to a GP, pharmacy or hospital. Symptoms can be checked via 111 online.

Should you have these symptoms and feel very unwell (ie, unable to carry out simple daily activities or can't get out of bed) you need to ring 111 and explain your symptoms.

Please be aware that this is an evolving situation. In addition, we are triaging all appointments, and have stopped online booking. We are still providing face to face appointments when the clinician speaking to the patient determines that this is necessary.

Our non clinical staff are working extremely hard to ensure that our administrative and reception services are fully operational behind the scenes.

All of this is based upon national guidance designed to protect the community, our patients and our staff. It is likely to evolve as the guidance changes.
