Town Council meetings go online

Friday, 22 May 2020

Hebden Royd Town Council held its first official remote meeting on Wednesday 20th May. Local councillors, town council officers, and members of the public stayed at home and gathered around mobile devices to consider planning applications, correspondence and reports on the recent actions of the Town Council under powers that had been delegated to officers during the initial phases of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Zoom meeting

The Coronavirus outbreak has brought about a temporary change in legislation permitting local councils to meet remotely, so that they are able to continue to take decisions that allow them to function and provide continuity in their delivery of services.

It was decided that the Town Council will be hold its Annual General Meeting on the 10th June 2020 where a new Mayor will be elected to succeed Cllr Dr Carol Stow who has held the post for two years and into the start of a third, again due to the coronavirus outbreak. Town Council meetings will then be held every three weeks with a review to be held for meetings from the 2nd September onwards.
