Community grant applications welcomed

Thursday, 20 August 2020

Each year Hebden Royd Town Council welcomes applications from community groups to apply for a financial grant from the Council's Community Funding Budget to support projects, activities and events that benefit the residents of Hebden Royd.

Cllr Sue Fenton, chair of the Community Funding Committee, said, "Each year the Community Funding Committee set priorities for grant awards. Recognising that we face, along with all humanity, the two great challenges of Covid-19 and Climate Change, projects which in some way address these challenges will be prioritised."

Cllr Sue Fenton continued, "HRTC is always proud to support amazing projects that the wonderful people of our community bring to us for financial support. These projects vary from modest, small scale groups working with vulnerable members of the community to gloriously rumbustious events like Handmade Parade and Happy Valley Pride Festival. Our community is both caring and creative and this is reflected in these projects.

"This year is going to be a challenge. The constraints imposed upon us by Covid-19 are going to make some events difficult, if not impossible. These events need to be organised well in advance of coming to fruition and we cannot be certain of the circumstances we will find ourselves in even many months ahead. So, we are urging our endlessly creative people to temporarily let go of the successful formats of the past and to think outside the box. Surprise and delight us in a different way!"

Completed applications for grants will be submitted to the next available meeting of the Community Funding Committee. Full details can be found on the Town Council website here.
