Walking football sessions kick off in Mytholmroyd

Thursday, 23 June 2022

Walking football is one of the fastest growing parts of the beautiful game encouraging older players to keep going, but at a slower pace.

Now local male and female players aged around 50 plus can join in a new session at Mytholmroyd Leisure Centre every Wednesday from 6-7pm.  The first session is free to see if this version of the game works for you, and after that it's only £4.

Walking football is proving a big success nationally in supporting the mental and physical health of players, and the rules are simple.  There's no running so all players need to have one foot on the floor at all times, and there is no physical contact, so the emphasis is on fun, passing and positional play rather than just fitness.

It's already proving popular with twice as many players of all ages and abilities turning up for the second session.  All you need to bring is a pair of trainers, an optional football top in your team's colours and a bottle of water.

No need to book. Just Turn Up
