The Hinchcliffe Arms opens Kitchen

The kitchen at the historic Hinchliffe Arms in Cragg Vale is officially opening on 11th August 2022 with cooking from ex St John Restaurant chef Ruairidh Summers and hospitality from Esther Maylor landlady of the storied Salford establishment The Eagle Inn.

The rich culinary and agricultural history of Yorkshire have inspired Ruairidh to cook food that is a reflection of time and place within the Calder Valley. Drawing on his own memories of a childhood spent growing up in West Yorkshire, Summers will cook with a nod to classical tradition and nostalgia but with contemporary technique and execution. Esther will utilise her background as a successful publican and her natural flair at hosting to create an atmosphere that is welcoming, casual and relaxed.

The kitchen will be open Thursday to Sunday with dinner served Thursday to Saturday and an extended lunch service on Sunday. We will offer an ever changing menu with an emphasis on the finest quality locally sourced produce, foraged wild ingredients and dayboat fish from the Yorkshire coast. Throughout we will also offer a bar menu comprising small plates and snacks. There will also be a series of outdoor events to mark significant dates on the calendar, with music and casual outdoor dining.

Soft Launch Period with 50% Off Food:
11-21 August 2022

The Hinchliffe Arms is an integral part of the Cragg Vale community and is a meeting place for locals and travellers alike and they aim to provide a vibrant and convivial space for all to be refreshed, sustained and entertained.

Ruairidh says, "I have always loved the casual dining ethos of the French bistro and the Italian Trattoria and I feel that the pub should be the British equivalent, a place where you can meet with friends and family and relax over a drink and great conversation whilst enjoying food that is cooked to the highest standard.

"We want people to feel at home here, like they can lean over and have a conversation with the guests at the next table. I love the idea that people can be sitting eating delicious food and savouring a bottle of wine whilst across the room ramblers in muddy boots unwind with a pint of ale.

"From the first time Esther and I spoke we agreed that we wanted to create a sense of joy, plain and simple. Having worked in restaurants in London and Italy for the last 10 years I'm so excited to return to my roots and have access to all these incredible products right on our doorstep."
