The Future for Israel/Palestine: Apartheid or One Democratic State

Wednesday, 31 August 2022

7.00pm 8.30pm, 6 September, Trades Club, Hebden Bridge

Professor Jeff Halper will be speaking at an event to be held at the Trades Club, Hebden Bridge on September 6th at 7pm, entitled 'The Future for Israel/Palestine : Apartheid or One Democratic State'. Jeff is originally from the United States but has lived in Israel since 1973 and identifies as Jewish Israeli. An academic who has written a number of books on Israel/Palestine, he is the Director of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions (ICAHD) and co-founder of the One Democratic State Campaign (OSDC). He is engaged in a speaking tour visiting a number of venues across the UK and Halifax Friends of Palestine is pleased to be able to host him in Calderdale.

Known for the clarity Jeff brings to issues on the ground in Palestine/ Israel as well as politically, he will be discussing why the two-state solution is dead, the need to move beyond protest and work towards a political endgame to liberate historic Palestine from settler colonialism, occupation and apartheid and the One Democratic State Campaign - a Palestinian-led initiative with a 10 point programme for establishing a single democratic state, with equal rights for all, between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River.

Entry is free but donations towards the cost of the event are welcomed.
