Thanks to Diana Monahan for the following update

Mytholm Mill Chimney

Demolition of Mytholm Mill Chimney has started this week, although it is not clear whether there is an Ecologist on site during demolition as stipulated in the attached report document on p4 and 5.

The photo pictured right from Matthew Fawcett shows the ladder which has been put up.

I think the video from Wandering Turnip you included on a previous report shows that the top looked as if it could do with pointing, but apart from that the pointing looked fine and it had a lightning conductor on the top so was it really at risk of falling down.

The original demolition order was submitted in 2019 and at first it seemed that SetBray might be prepared to hand the chimney over to a properly constituted group so A Friends Of Mytholm Mill Chimney CIC was set up to take on the chimney and some individuals were also prepared to buy it, but SetBray claimed they did not demonstrate that there was a long-term business plan for looking after chimney and thought it might become a liability for the community. Hence another piece of our industrial heritage will be lost.
