Anne Lister Festival presents: Community Film Afternoon
Sunday 30th March 2025
Session 1: 1-3.10pm,
Session 2: 3.45-5.40pm
Hebden Bridge Picture House
An afternoon showing of three fantastic short films celebrating lesbian stories in the heart of Hebden Bridge as part of the Anne Lister Festival, plus post-film discussions with the Directors/film subjects themselves.
Old Lesbians: Meghan McDonough's incredibly moving story of the late Arden Eversmeyer's journey across the USA as she recorded hundreds of oral herstories with a mostly invisible population that is rapidly disappearing.
Not Quite That: the unbelievably humbling story of Sarah – a Jewish woman, a mother and a butch lesbian who has a genetic mutation for breast cancer. An intimate exploration of how we are seen and how we see ourselves.
Lesvia (a Yorkshire Premiere!): This film chronicles 40+ years of lesbian identity and conflict in the small farming village of Eressos on the island of Lesvos.
And all with Q&A afterwards with Hebden Bridge Film Festival's Director herself - Louise Wadley. Don't miss this incredible event!

Over 70 events and activities are taking place across the region to celebrate the birthday of one of the town's most famous residents.
The famous landowner, entrepreneur, mountaineer, scholar, traveller, and lesbian, Anne Lister was born in Halifax on 3 April 1791.
To celebrate what would have been Anne's 234th birthday, Calderdale Council is supporting a packed programme of events and activities from Saturday 29 March to Sunday 6 April 2025, as part of the fourth annual Anne Lister Birthday Festival.
Anne's story will be brought to life, with opportunities to walk in her footsteps, exploring some of Halifax's finest heritage buildings. This includes her family home of Shibden Hall, with special private tours featuring areas usually not accessible to the public.
