Town Council's New Website
In April 2025, Hebden Royd Town Council proudly announced the launch of its new website, designed to offer a more accessible, streamlined, and user-friendly experience for residents.
The new site reflects the Hebden Royd Town Council's commitment to accessibility, inclusivity, and transparency. In response to evolving accessibility standards, the Council has adopted new sector guidelines, including compliance with the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2.
The Town Council extends its gratitude to Chris Ratcliffe, who diligently managed and updated the previous website for the past 15 years. His invaluable contributions are deeply appreciated.
Chris Ratcliffe adds, "It was in 2010 that I was approached by then Mayor Robin Dixon and former Town Clerk Jason Boom to construct a site more in keeping with the spirit of our town. A site where all council documents and minutes, old and new, were available to be searched online, and where there would be galleries of photos illustrating the area's creative nature using local photographers. Graphic designer Mike Barrett, creator of the 'It's so Hebden Bridge' posters was approached to come up with the design."
The new site is now managed internally by Hebden Royd Town Council, thanks to the appointment of a Communications Officer in the past two years. This transition enhances flexibility and builds resilience in managing the Council's digital communication.
"We are thrilled to unveil our new website, marking a significant step forward in how we connect with our community," said Emma Green, Town Clerk. "We're particularly excited about new features that allow residents to conveniently order and pay for regular services, such as hanging baskets, online - creating a more seamless and user-focused experience."
The payment option is just one of several new features to explore. Although, as with the previous website, HRTC will continue to provide regular updates, event news, council and committee meeting details, and key announcements.
Optimised for all devices, the mobile-friendly site ensures a smooth experience for users. Hebden Royd Town Council encourages all residents to visit the new website, explore its features, and share their feedback.
