POD expands car share scheme with reduced rates

POD — the Upper Calder Valley's community car-share initiative — now operates four automatic Toyota hybrids (three Yaris models and a red Corolla estate), with a silver Corolla arriving soon at Todmorden Working Men's Social Club. They are growing every day with almost 50 users now, after only 3 months of being up and running!

In response to user feedback, they've cut our 24-hour hire rate and reduced the hourly rate. Use POD cars by the hour for £5.75 p/h or £50 per day. Whether it's a weekend getaway or daily errand, their revised pricing makes car-sharing more accessible. Book the cars and unlock with an app – it couldn't be simpler.

Their volunteer team ensures all vehicles are well-maintained. In Hebden Bridge they're parked in dedicated bays at Market Place, Bridge Lanes and beside the Co-op at Salem Mill. In Todmorden, POD cars are based in the car park at the working men's social club. on Halifax Road. Both Corollas come with roof bars for their roof box or bike racks, while Yaris users can borrow a tailgate bike rack from Bridge Lanes at no extra cost.

Emily, one of users explains her experience with POD, "I love the fact that, as a POD user, I can just turn up and drive a nearly new hybrid - which I probably couldn't have afforded to buy myself - and feel confident that it has been serviced and well maintained.

"I've also noticed that I walk, cycle and use public transport more now than I did when I had my own vehicle, and only book a POD car for journeys which don't have an easy alternative. So it's a win-win for both me and the environment."

POD is proud to offer an eco‑friendly, community‑driven transport solution in the Upper Calder Valley. To learn more or to become a POD user, please visit pod-caldervalley.co.uk or email manager@pod-caldervalley.co.uk.
