Town gets new Defibrillator

Hebden Bridge now has access to an additional defibrillator thanks to the generosity of individuals, groups and Market Street businesses including Element Jewellery, Tall Poppies, Totally Screwed and the Turkish Barbers.

Where?

The life-saving device has been installed by Stephen King of SK Electricals at the Methodist Church in Hebden Bridge. It is located under the porch at the main entrance to church on Market Street, providing easy access 24/7 in a well-lit location.

Who can use it?

Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) can be used by anyone as they provide step by step instructions.  Early intervention increases the chances of survival dramatically. This new public access AED is linked with the Ambulance Service and in an emergency the 999 operator will provide the access code for the cabinet and support any use.

How was it paid for?

The device has been sourced through SADS UK, the charity focussed on sudden arrhythmic death with 50% funding from the Richard Waight Memorial Fund. Fundraising has been coordinated by Soup Dragon Hebden Bridge which operates from the church on Friday lunchtimes.
