A646 Road Closure: Yorkshire Water update
Update: 15.27pm Thursday 19 February
The repair to the carriageway on the A646 between Hebden Bridge and Todmorden, after damage occurred as a result of a leak on the clean water network, is still ongoing, and the estimated date for reopening remains Saturday 21 February.
Locals may see more of our colleagues on site over the next day or so, as they work to repair a secondary burst that has occurred next to the existing works - secondary bursts can sometimes happen due to fluctuations in pressure in the network. However, we do not currently foresee this impacting the reopening of the road on Saturday 21 February.
The road is closed between the junction with Stoodley Glen and the lay-by outside the property known as Rivendell. This is for the safety of residents, road users, and colleagues who will be working on site.
The signed diversion route is via the A6033 through Littleborough, Blackstone Edge, Cragg Road, and into Mytholmroyd.
We are working with Calderdale Council to provide a daily shuttle service between Todmorden and the closure point, running between 7am and 7pm. A second shuttle bus is operating from the Hebden Bridge side of the Knowle End Farm closure point, running from 9am to 5pm.
The service is operated by Elite Minibuses. Pedestrian access is maintained.
We understand just how disruptive this closure has been and will continue to be and would like to apologise for this. This comes just over a year after a previous road closure due to a sewer collapse, so we understand that there may be some additional frustration from those living and working in the area and would like to assure everyone that it is an absolute priority for us to complete this work quickly, so that we can return things to normal for everyone.
We'll continue doing everything we can to reopen the road on Saturday 21 February, but if we do find that our progress is not on track, we will provide those updates as soon as possible. We'd like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.
