Magic Tenner Campaign

Hebden Royd Business Forum unites nearly 40 independents for Totally Locally Magic Tenner campaign

Nearly 40 independent businesses across Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd are coming together this March to take part in the Magic Tenner campaign, a celebration of shopping small and boosting the local economy.

Following the success of last year's Magic Tenner campaign, led nationally by Totally Locally, the Hebden Royd Business Forum has brought the initiative back to Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd for 2026, with support from Print Bureau.

The campaign runs from 1-16 March and will see shops, cafés and service businesses offering special £10 deals designed to encourage residents and visitors to think local first.

Small businesses are joining forces in a show of resilience and community spirit that aims not only to drive footfall but also to celebrate the creativity, character and community that define Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd.

Angie Mossman, Chair of Hebden Royd Business Forum, said, "We're famous for our brilliant independent shops, cafés and businesses - they're the heart of our high streets. Times are extremely tough for small businesses right now, and supporting our local shops, cafés and services is more important than ever.

We always rally in this valley, and this is our fightback. From 1st to 16th March, you'll see posters with fantastic £10 offers all over town. Spending that £10 locally makes a far bigger difference than people might realise - both to individual business owners but also the wider community."

The Magic Tenner campaign is backed by research from the New Economics Foundation, whose 'Plugging the Leaks' study found that spending £10 with a local independent business can generate up to £50 for the local economy through the multiplier effect.

Unlike national chains, independent businesses are more likely to use local suppliers, tradespeople and services - meaning money spent locally continues to circulate within the community.

"Generating £50 from £10 might sound far-fetched," Angie added, "but it's about how money moves. When you spend locally, that money ripples out to other local businesses and families. This campaign is about reminding people that small choices can have a big impact."

Residents can spot participating businesses by their Magic Tenner posters from 1 March and discover a wide range of limited-time £10 offers across retail, hospitality and services.
