Celebrate Peatlands at Hardcastle Crags

The National Trust is inviting visitors to celebrate the wonder of peatlands at The Big Bog Weekend, a free twoday event taking place at Gibson Mill, Hardcastle Crags, on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April.

The event also marks the closing weekend of The Peat Appreciation Society exhibition, offering a final chance to experience this thought provoking display.

The weekend brings together artists, scientists, conservationists and filmmakers for a programme of talks, films and family friendly activities exploring why peatlands matter more than ever. Through creativity, science and hands on learning, visitors will discover how these remarkable landscapes store carbon, support wildlife and help protect communities from flooding.

Across both days, visitors can enjoy family friendly, selfled moorland art activities, meet National Trust Rangers, and speak to West Yorkshire Fire Service in the courtyard about conservation, wildfire prevention and reporting.

The Big Bog Weekend is free to attend, with no booking required (car parking charges will apply in National Trust carparks).
