Strangeworld

Strangeworld play what’s been described as haunting, energetic and exquisite music. A top class acoustic folk band formed in 2005 – they’ve performed at all sorts of weird and wonderful venues including music festivals, folk festivals and arts centres, countrywide — with a marvellous mix of instruments including cello and medieval rauschpfeifen. Very atmospheric!

Strangeworld encompass the very best of every musical era, creating a new entity, which holds the listener gripped in its magical spell. With every note of their exquisite arrangements, including both traditional and self composed tunes, they take the audience on a wonderful musical journey. This coupled with delightful banter makes for a show that will remain long in the memory. Strangeworld have recorded two highly acclaimed CDs, Leap of Faith, released in 2005 and Paradigm, released in 2008 and are currently working on new material for their next album.

“Your set was one of pure quality — innovative arrangements, musically and technically excellent, dynamic and compelling material that made real contact with the audience who loved every minute of it!”
Sandy & Graham Ball, Priddy Festival and Folk at the Oak, Corsham

“Strangeworld came to The Acoustic Kitchen with a big reputation for a quality and eclectic repertoire … from the first haunting sounds … we sat in stunned silence as they weaved their magic; then came the applause and the encores … they will be back so watch their gig pages”
Pete Kitchen, The Acoustic Kitchen, King’s Lynn, Norfolk

Anna Ardley: oboe, whistles, rauschpfeife, bassoon

Bryan Causton: guitars, mandolin, cittern, mandocello

Andy Thompson: piano accordion

Simon Cooper: cello
